The short version
For 13 of our 14 tools, your files are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded anywhere — not to us, not to advertisers, not to anyone. We can't see your documents because they never leave your device. Ads may use cookies, but they never see your file contents.
EditPDF's tools run as WebAssembly / JavaScript inside your browser tab. The file you select is read into your device's memory, transformed locally, and offered back to you as a download. At no point is the file transmitted over the network for these tools — not to our servers, and not to advertisers.
EditPDF is supported by ads served by Google AdSense. AdSense and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These technologies never access the contents of files you process, because your documents stay in your browser. They are only used to personalize the ads you see on the page itself.
You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings, or by adjusting your browser cookie settings / using an ad blocker. Third-party vendors and ad networks may use cookies as part of serving ads; their use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies.
Converting Word, Excel or PowerPoint to PDF requires LibreOffice, which cannot run in a browser. For this single tool, your file is sent to a converter that you choose and configure (stored only in your browser). The tool is clearly labeled and you can avoid it entirely by simply not using it. We do not operate this converter ourselves.
When you visit, a cookie banner asks whether you consent to personalized ads. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage and passed to Google via Consent Mode v2. If you reject, ads may still appear but will be non-personalized. We also use local storage only to remember your chosen Office→PDF converter address. We do not run analytics.
The PDF engines (pdf.js, pdf-lib, Tesseract OCR, and qpdf) are loaded from this website's own servers, so processing stays self-contained. Ad scripts load from Google. Donation links on the support page open external sites only when you click them.
Because all file processing runs client-side, you can confirm these claims yourself: open your browser's network devtools while using any tool and observe that no document data leaves your device. Ad network requests do not include your file contents.
EditPDF is open and transparent. Material changes to this policy will be reflected on this page. This document is provided in plain language and is not legal advice.
